From sea to mountains

This is a quite hard and long path suitable for well-trained bikers. From Cupra Marittima we head south along the SS16 and arrived in Grottammare turn right onto the SP92 Valtesino. The road enriched with beautiful plants , in 17 km takes us to Tesino bridge and here we must be very careful at the crossroads: we must follow the main road, leaving the road to the left that goes to Castignano and the one at right to Cossignano. Continuing we reach Rotella and just arrived at the beginning of the town, referring to the pharmacy next to a fountain, take an immediate left to climb the mountain of the Ascensione.The first section has been challenging, but the thick vegetation protects us from the sun. Passed the junction for the Capradosso the vegetation becomes less densebut also the climb becomes gently. After reaching the summit of 750 m, a fast descent bring us into the centre of Venagrande first and then into Ascoli Piceno, with its beautiful old town. From here turn left and follow the Salaria we reach Porto d'Ascoli and at the intersection with the Adriatic main road turn left again and through San Benedetto del Tronto and Grottammare we are back in Cupra Marittima.It's advisable to wear a helmet and appropriate clothing.
